America isn’t the only place to find a monster bash. Some top destinations feature over-the-top costumes, whole community parades, even week-long events. It used to be just a Western tradition, but now revelers around the world throw costume parties and other elaborate events. In Austria, people set out food to welcome dead souls back to earth. In Germany, people hide their knives so as not to risk harming returning spirits. In countries around the world people go to live concerts, wild parades and spooktacular celebrations. Here’s a list of the best.

Halloween Singles Cruise in the Caribbean

Why party for a night when you could do it for seven days straight? The Halloween Eastern Caribbean cruise leaves from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and stops in the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Martin. Spooky parties, dancing and drinking all have themes that are to die for.

Krankbrother Halloween, London

The London party takes over an entire street and has live performing artists, two enormous pitch-black arches that pulse with light and sound, a light and laser show and a dark atmosphere. They advertise a completely immersive experience and advise guests to come early.

Bangkok, Thailand

Join the biggest street party in Bangkok on Silom Soi 4, famous for its clubs and restaurants. The more shocking your costume, the better. Ghouls, futuristic robots and the walking dead mingle until well after the witching hour has passed.

Wicked Ways to Celebrate in Belgium

The Bruxelles Mon Horreur takes visitors through the streets of Brussels in search of ancient spirits. The showcase starts across from the Royal Palace and from there encounters goblins and vampires interwoven with haunts from the city’s past. Enjoy drinks and dining along the way.

Galway Aboo Halloween Festival, Ireland

The holiday originated in Ireland, although the Irish carved turnips until they immigrated to the United States. When you’re there, don’t miss Galway’s three-day festival that attracts 50,000 visitors every year. The parade has fearsome floats, terrifying magicians and elaborate costumes, and the pubs have plenty of Guinness.

If you’re in the Netherlands, visit Amsterdam Spook’s costume party at the Panama Nightclub. The Amsterdam Ghost Walk is available year round and takes visitors on a tour of haunted sites in search of local apparitions. Stop by the Amsterdam dungeon to hear actors reminisce about the Black Death and the Spanish Inquisition.

If you’re looking for the best parties in Philadelphia, OneUp Events has them all in one place. Get yours early to make sure you’re on the guest list!
